Ruth Ginsburg is alleged by her granddaughter to have said, “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”
I'm skeptical. She's on her deathbed, and she says that? Who does that?
But let's say RBG really did say that and parse the words as she would have done. The current president is Donald Trump. And if he is reelected, he will continue to be president. So that phrase " a new president is installed" could only apply to someone other than Donald Trump. That's understandable. But it certainly doesn't say the Senate should wait for that other president before naming a successor.
This whole thing is simply the partisan anti-Trump gamesmanship that has been going on for four years.
