The reported covid-19 cases seem like a yo yo with peaks and valleys of lows and highs. It should have leveled off long ago.
Here's my own little predictor of spikes -- reduced mask wearing in grocery stores. Following the first spike Governor Abbott initiated some strict rules, and a lower case count followed. People took that to mean the epidemic was over and relaxed their mask wearing. Then another spike.
Then another reaction by public officials was followed by another valley on the graph. But then people relaxed again, and we experienced another spike. So the current spike is at least the third such reversal.
So here's my own little predictor -- mask wearing in grocery stores. Look around in the stores, and if your experience is similar to mine a low percentage of people wearing masks precedes an upward virus case count.
To be safe, wear a mask when around others.
P.S. We're hearing that Joe Biden, if he ultimately wins, intends to ask governors to mandate mask wearing. That makes my libertarian horns grow. Self preservation is the predominate instinct of most humans. And preservation of family and loved ones is a strong second. Preservation of strangers comes in third, but it's still up there. Most of us want what's best for ourselves and our countrymen. And mask wearing seems like a simple and easy solution. It's a darn shame that is has become a political issue.
