White robots - racism. But what about refrigerators?

Wide awake and woke folks are scanning the horizon for anything that could plausibly, or implausibly, be called racist.  It's a tribute to their imagination that they hit on white robots. But they've strained so hard they can't see straight.

Robot racism? Yes, says a study showing humans' biases extend to robots.

But why stop there? If an inanimate object can trigger racism, how about all those white appliances in our kitchens? I've got a white refrigerator that just seems to purr racism much of the time. Some might say it's just the motor running, but don't you believe it. It's racism, pure and simple.

Then there's the oven. White, again. And it can cause pain, too, if it isn't treated respectfully. Has to be racism.

Actually, what we have here is an overeager effort to ascribe racism to someone or thing. It's time to give it a rest. Better yet, as Joseph Epstein suggest, it's time to put the word "racist" on the list of banned words.

Equalism, no, make that Equalitarianism -- a new word for Hillary so she doesn't have to defend socialism and communism

A news show was playing a scene from a Hillary Clinton speech on the subject of income equality. More particularly, it was the old theme of women's earnings vs. men's earnings. They should be equal, you see.

In the dreamland Hillary wants us to imagine, one has to assume that when taken to the ultimate end, the ideal paycheck would be exactly equal to every other paycheck issued in the nation during a given time.

Equalism. The Centre is not dictating output, and the government isn't managing the economy. It's not socialism, and it's not communism. It's a hybrid. Actually, "equalism" is too simplistic a word for someone of Ms. Clinton's prestige. "Equalitarianism" might better convey the complexity of it since most people won't understand it.

The work a person performs or the product he/she produces, and the demand for that work or product is irrelevant*. It turns human nature on its head, but it's utopia, and everyone is happy because equality is its own reward.

*Of course, exceptions must be made for government leaders who would earn more because their work is so important.

African Americans vs. Native Americans -- Can't they all just get along?

It's hard to know who to root for in this. On one side is an Indian tribe trying to seek government sanctioned tribal status. On the other side is the Congressional Black Caucus trying to block it because the tribe once banned interracial marriages, except to whites. See Past ban on marrying blacks may mar tribe's future.

The Pamunkey tribe in Virginia is trying to get the recognition for all the obvious reasons, which would include the right to own a casino. So with that potential money maker the gaming industry is in the mix-up, too.

But if there's one thing we know it's that politicians are so principled that the possibility of a payoff would never be a factor. Ya think?

Chelsea Clinton's rags to riches story

Daniel Halper was on a C-Span panel the other day talking about his book, Clinton, Inc., among other things. And he made an interesting observation. I heard him say Chelsea Clinton was Hillary's campaign manager. However, the transcript says she's the "shadow campaign manager." So no official title. Nevertheless, that's a good gig for someone just out of college.

She does have a work history, however. She worked for NBC for two years pulling in a whooping $600,000 per year. Nice work, if you can get it.

But this rags-to-riches story does remind us of how far this little Arkansas girl with dead broke parents has come. She really pulled herself up by her boot straps.

She's a role model for little girls everywhere.
